2. Lying
Do not lie during an interview. From one lie comes another and you might get totally stuck. Besides, in nowadays business it is quite common to check ones references.
3. Do not go into detail on your current company
It is tempting to tell everything about the company you currently work for. However, YOU are the subject of the interview, not the company.
4. Being nervous or confident
Some people completely break down during an interview. They are too nervous. Why? The person sitting on the other side of the table also is a human being. Do not be nervous, calm down. On the other hand quite some people feel over-confident. They think they rule the world, have all the knowledge and truly think the interviewing company can not do well without them. Well, the company is already doing well and that is the reason you are invited for the interview. Do not think you know everything. Be interested, listen, talk and try to learn.
5. Research
One should study the company one is visiting. Before the interview you should visit the web, ask for annual reports at the reception or try to read articles in e.g. news papers. One should exactly know what the company is about. In case you know a lot ( of course not everything) you will make a good first impression. Which brings us to point six.
6. First impression
Make sure the first impression is good. Dress well and make sure you arrive in time. Shake hands firmly and make sure that (if used) your perfume does not fill the entire room.
7. Don’t interrupt
Be polite and do not interrupt. Let the interviewer finish his sentences and questions
8. Concentration
Be focuses during the entire interview. Many people loose attention after e.g. 30 minutes. An interviewer will notice that and will not like it. Make sure you ask questions and stay interested till the very end. No matter how long the interview takes.
9. “Yes” and “No” answers
Avoid to give “yes” and “ no” answers. Give clear explanations and come with arguments.
10. Do not try to be funny
Do not try to be funny in case you are not. Be focuses on the interview and the interviewer, and make sure he / she does not get bothered by so called “jokes” from your side. One is not interested in a clown unless the advertisement asks for one.
