Feel happy at the job

Your professional life is a big part of your total life. Most employees spend 40 years with working which is a lifetime itself. It is therefore of utmost importance you feel comfortable with your job. In case you do not feel comfortable one thing is for sure: leave immediately.

Below JOBZO.com gives some advices and tips which might be useful in feeling happy in your job.

1. Set your personal targets and goals

What do you want to achieve in life? Do your ambitions match your capabilities? You should not aim for things you might never achieve. Although? There is a Japanese proverb that says: In case you have reached your goals, your goals where not sharp enough. However, make sure you know in which direction you want to go to. Continually ask yourself the question whether you still are on the right track. In case you are moving away from your goals make sure you get back on track. Is this not possible in your current job, than move to another job or position.

2. Define a strategy (create a 5-years plan)

You should exaclty define your goals between now and five years. Create a five – years approach and define steps and goals. Never lose your targets out of sight. Be in control and evelaute each year. Do not look on a daily bases. Look into the longer stretch. However, make immediate decisions in case you notice your goals will not be met. Which action to take? Learn a language, go back to school, change from position or company, move to another country, etc.

3. Upgrade your skills

As soon as you are working in a certain company and in a certain job, you should not forget to continuesly upgrade your skills. You should not lay back and relax. As soon as you start working in a certain job, work just starts. You must prove yourself and your knowledge of files, working areas, company rules and regulations, structures, company politics, etc. should be excellent. You have to gain experience by education, by listening and by talking to the right persons. You should work on self-education and self-improvement all the time. This will turn you into an all-round personaity who feels comfortable in a job. Many frustration comes forward from being asked things you do not know. Avoid this……

4. Find yourself a tutor

Do not think you posses all the knowledge. In most cases when you start working for a certain company you know nothing at all. Find yourself a tutor, someone who knows the company very well and who has experience in his field of knowledge. Learn as much as possible from this person and share your experiences with the tutor. Let him / her judge each situation and ask for advice.

5. Do not mix your personal life with your private life

Feeling comfortable in a job is also very much related to feeling comfortable at home. Make sure you have a stable home base and a stable working base and separate these two strictly. Say “no” to certain tasks in case you realise they will cause private questions or problems. Say “no” to certain work in case it is damaging your personal life. Do not talk about private matters in a professional area. Strictly separate these two areas from each other. Make sure there is a good and healthy seperation between private life and work

6. Feel good between your ears

Your compelte mindset should be good. Do you think negative about your job? Are you depressed? Do you not want to get out of bed early in the morning, because of work? Find yourself a better job. Make sure your mindset is in harmony with youur goals. In case your mindset gets negatively affected because of your goals, change your goals.

7. Focus and Planning

Fully focus on your goals. Make sure your planning is excellent and let nothing and nobody disturb your own goals. Be the leader of your own life. Commit to your own targets. Reach your targets. Deal with critisism, impatience, a wrong self-image and all kind of other disturbing factors.

8. Take responsibilities

Make sure your work is interesting. Take responsibilities and deal with them properly. Take responsibility for all actions taken by you: both the good ones and the wrong ones. Especially the last category will results in a learning effect. Focus on solving wrong responsibilites instead of focussing on blaming someone else. This will not improve your self esteem and besides it will harm your working relation with others. A positive attitutde which also includes self-critisism will last longer than an ego-centric attitude not open for critism.

9. Make sure your finances are well ordered

One of the main factors resulting in stress at work is having personal finances not well ordered. One has to focus on having the financial situation ordered, as financial problems can lay a heavy burden on both private and professional life. Finances have to be struuctured and one should focus on having a financially strong household. This does not mean one has to focus on finances solely. On the contrary, that will also result in stress and low self-esteem. Look into your finances and make sure they give you a good feeling.

10. Create quality time

Life is not only working. Besides work everybody needs a social life. Create quality time and be together with family and friends in order to relax in a positive way. Try to have a hobby or sport besides work. This will widden your horizon, it will bring you in touch with other people and besides you are able to focus on other things than work only.
